Technology like Cylinder On Demand allows the Audi to deactivate cylinders that are not in use during driving. As a driver, it’s impossible to recognize the difference between four-cylinder and eight-cylinder mode, because the car will switch between the two depending on the need for throttle. Inside the Audi S8 there are a series of microphones that detect unwanted noise, and a sound system that emits the opposite frequency of that noise in order to effectively silence it and create a quiet cabin atmosphere.
